The Battle of Britain

After the fall of France, Britain prepares for possible invasion while Fighter Command confronts the Luftwaffe over the Channel and southern England. The campaign develops through attacks on shipping, airfields, radar stations and cities as both sides attempt to understand the other’s strength and intentions.

Holland places pilots and commanders alongside ground crews, radar operators, factory workers and civilians. The battle depends on aircraft production, repair, intelligence and command systems as much as individual dogfights. Britain’s survival prevents German domination of western Europe and keeps a base from which the war can later be carried back to the continent.
