Michael Jecks is an English author of historical crime fiction, best known for the long-running Knights Templar Mysteries. The series follows former Templar Sir Baldwin Furnshill and his friend Simon Puttock through murder investigations in fourteenth-century England, particularly Devon and Dartmoor. Jecks left a career in the computer industry to concentrate on writing and medieval history, and his fiction combines detailed period research with traditional detective plots, political intrigue and the violence of medieval society.

Beyond the Templar novels, Jecks has written the Hundred Years’ War trilogy beginning with Fields of Glory, the Jack Blackjack mysteries set in Tudor England, the Vintener series and several contemporary thrillers. He founded the collaborative historical-fiction group Medieval Murderers and has served on the committees of both the Crime Writers’ Association and the Historical Writers’ Association. His novel The Death Ship of Dartmouth was shortlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award.
