Shah Shujah Durrani

1780–1842

Shah Shujah Durrani was a ruler of the Durrani Empire who lost the Afghan throne and spent years in exile. The British restored him in 1839 during the First Anglo-Afghan War, but his dependence on foreign occupation undermined his legitimacy and he was assassinated in Kabul in 1842.
