Anglo-Zulu War
1879
The Anglo-Zulu War began after British demands and imperial pressure led to invasion of the Zulu Kingdom. Early British confidence was shattered at Isandlwana, where a large British force was destroyed.
The war continued through battles, fortified posts and renewed British advances before ending in Zulu defeat. It became one of the most famous conflicts of the late Victorian empire.
