Wealthy Linnet Ridgeway marries Simon Doyle, the former fiancé of her friend Jacqueline de Bellefort, and the couple travel to Egypt for their honeymoon. Jacqueline follows them, and the tension among the three intensifies aboard a Nile steamer carrying an international group of travellers.
