In the years before the Roman invasion of Britain, young Breaca kills the warrior who murdered her mother and begins the difficult education expected of an Eceni leader. Her half-brother Bán possesses a different gift: visions of possible futures that mark him for the spiritual path of the dreamers rather than the life of a conventional warrior.
Tribal rivalry separates the siblings and drives Bán into captivity, slavery and eventual service within the Roman world.
