Book
The Hippopotamus Marsh
First published 1998
The Theban ruler Seqenenre Tao governs southern Egypt while King Apepi and the Hyksos control the north. An insulting demand concerning the hippopotami at Thebes becomes the latest demonstration that the Theban royal family can retain its titles only by accepting the authority of a foreign court.
Seqenenre’s decision to resist transforms family grievance into open war. Ahhotep, Kamose and the young Ahmose must confront the political and personal cost of a campaign their house may not survive. The novel was released in the United Kingdom under the title Lords of the Two Lands.
