Pacorus and Gallia return to Dura hoping that peace will allow them to leave Parthia's wars behind. Relations between King of Kings Phraates and Octavian are unusually calm, the eastern frontier has stabilised and Pacorus turns his attention to irrigation, farming and the prosperity of his own kingdom rather than another campaign.

That respite ends when conflict begins to gather in the north. Old enemies and unresolved rivalries draw Pacorus back into command, forcing him once again to balance loyalty to Dura against the demands of the wider Parthian Empire. The campaign brings one of his greatest military successes, but the victory is accompanied by personal loss, reinforcing the cost of a career in which peace repeatedly proves more fragile than battlefield triumph.
