Cameo
First published 1988
Cameo is a wartime suspense novel set across a brief period of leave in Blitz-era London. A young RAF squadron leader moves through a city under strain, where romance, danger and the temporary intensity of wartime life make ordinary judgements harder to trust.
Although published long after the war, the book belongs with Graham’s fiction about people living under the pressure of World War II. Its historical context is the British home front: air raids, service life, blackout conditions and the emotional compression produced by the knowledge that each leave may be temporary.
