Clementia of Hungary was queen consort of France and Navarre through her marriage to Louis X. Clementia of Hungary held the title of Queen Consort of France and Navarre and queen.

After Louis’s death, she gave birth to John I, whose brief life intensified the succession problems of the Capetian monarchy. Clementia of Hungary was born in Naples and died in Paris.

Maurice Druon’s The Poisoned Crown brings Clementia of Hungary to France as Louis X’s second wife, chosen in the hope that a new marriage will produce an undisputed male heir. Her pregnancy becomes politically decisive when Louis dies, because the succession must wait on the sex and survival of the unborn child.
