Phase
1314–1316 CE
Louis X inherited the crown after Philip IV's death while his wife Margaret remained imprisoned following the Tour de Nesle affair. Her position obstructed his plan to marry Clementia of Hungary and secure another heir.
His reign coincided with the Great Famine and renewed conflict in Flanders. Louis died suddenly in 1316, leaving Clementia pregnant and the succession unresolved.
The Strangled Queen and The Poisoned Crown dramatise this short reign, while clearly fictionalising some deaths and poisonings whose historical causes remain uncertain.
