Beginning at Philippi in 42 BC, veteran centurion Titus Villius Macer attracts the attention of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa and is recruited into Octavian’s intelligence network. Sent home to Sicily, he discovers that Sextus Pompey has turned the island into a naval stronghold capable of threatening Rome’s grain supply. Military reputation offers Titus little protection when espionage divides his family, neighbours and former comrades.

The omnibus contains Nest of Vipers, Viper Pit and Viper’s Revenge, carrying Titus from the aftermath of Caesar’s assassination through Octavian’s repeated naval failures and the final campaign against Sextus in 36 BC. The trilogy combines spy work, piracy, land warfare and the Battle of Naulochus. It was first collected in 2021 as Agents of Rome: The Complete Campaigns and reissued in 2024 under the title Vipers of Rome.
