In AD 59, tribune Gaius Valerius Verrens commands veterans at Colonia in eastern Britain as Roman exploitation and religious persecution drive the native tribes towards revolt. When Boudicca’s uprising overwhelms the province, Valerius must organise a defence with only a small force, civilians and men whose confidence in Roman authority is rapidly collapsing.
