Tetisheri

c. 17th century BCE–c. 1540s BCE

Tetisheri was a matriarch of the late Seventeenth Dynasty royal family. Remembered and honoured by later descendants, she connected the Theban rulers who resisted the Hyksos and helped anchor the legitimacy of the dynasty that founded the New Kingdom.

Tetisheri also held the offices or ranks of Great Royal Wife and pharaoh. Tetisheri belonged to the Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt and operated within Ancient Egypt. Tetisheri died in Thebes.

In Elizabeth Peters’ The Hippopotamus Pool, At the turn of the twentieth century, a stranger shows Amelia and Emerson a ring associated with Queen Tetisheri and claims to know the location of her lost tomb.
