Book
Wolf of Mercia (Eagle of Mercia)
Londonia, AD 830. King Wiglaf of Mercia has recovered his throne, but King Ecgberht of Wessex still controls the strategically valuable settlement of London and its mint. Wiglaf sends his warriors to reclaim the city and complete Mercia’s political recovery.
During the fighting, Icel becomes trapped on the Wessex side of the battle and is carried back inside the stronghold with the retreating enemy. Survival requires him to pass himself off as a Wessex warrior while looking for a way to weaken the defenders from within. The disguise exposes him to new loyalties and opportunities that complicate his mission. Icel must decide how far he can trust the people around him while attempting to deliver Londonia back to Wiglaf without revealing his true allegiance.
