Victory for the East End Angels
As the Second World War moves towards its end, the women of Station Seventy-Five's ambulance crew face futures that no longer revolve solely around emergency work in wartime London. Frankie waits for news of her doctor fiancé serving overseas, while Winnie must decide how pregnancy will change her place in the station.
Bella's friendship with a Polish airman introduces another uncertainty as victory approaches and displaced servicemen begin to think about what will happen after demobilisation. The novel closes the East End Angels sequence by following the women's relationships, work and choices through the transition from wartime danger to the difficult prospect of ordinary life.
