The SAS leaves the North African desert for the invasion of Sicily and the campaign up the Italian peninsula. Paddy Mayne’s force must adapt from small airfield raids to assaults involving coastal landings, fortified positions and cooperation with larger Allied formations.

The second volume of the trilogy shows how the SAS survived institutional expansion while casualties and repeated combat hardened the bonds and rivalries established in the desert.
