Horseman
The Raven Wing clan has survived its recent enemies and begun to prosper, but rivalry within the ruling family threatens the stability that warfare failed to destroy. Hrolf the Horseman is sent into Frankia in the hope that distance, negotiation and a new task can prevent the quarrel from splitting the clan.
The situation becomes more complicated when Jarl Gunnar Thorfinnson’s proposed marriage creates an alliance that carries the Norsemen far from home and into new fighting. Hrolf must balance loyalty to his jarl with the need to preserve relationships inside the clan. The novel uses marriage, kinship and campaigning to show how Norse political strength depends on family cohesion as much as success in battle.
