Greek Ancient Origins

Greek Ancient Origins surveys the formation of Greek civilisation from the Mycenaean palace cultures of the second millennium BC through the Bronze Age collapse, the Greek Dark Ages and the emergence of the archaic city-states. The collection introduces early settlements, trade, warfare, religion, art and oral traditions while showing how later Greeks understood and reshaped their own distant past.

The final sections lead into Classical Antiquity and the political, philosophical and literary institutions that exercised a lasting influence on Europe and the Mediterranean. The volume is edited by J. K. Jackson, with a new introduction by Lindsay Powell; it is therefore retained in his export as a contributor work rather than described as a single-author narrative history.
