At the same time, the mutilated body of a well-born young woman is discovered at a London printing house. Shakespeare’s inquiries connect court politics, clandestine publishing and the city’s criminal districts, drawing him into a conspiracy in which religious allegiance and foreign war cannot be separated from murder.
