Fight or Die gathers shorter works drawn from several of Foreman’s historical series. Lucius Oppius is forced into a Roman arena, Rufus Varro’s private indiscretion becomes an intelligence danger, and the veteran Edward Kemp is approached by Bohemond of Taranto on the eve of the First Crusade. The stories move across very different periods but share protagonists who survive through improvisation rather than simple heroism.
