Billy Boyle and Piotr Kazimierz are sent through occupied France into neutral Switzerland, where the Office of Strategic Services is preparing talks intended to restrict Swiss trade with Germany and prevent Nazi assets from being hidden after the war. Their assignment becomes a murder investigation centred on banks laundering looted gold.
A Sinti survivor named Anton Lasho helps them trace wealth taken from concentration-camp victims, but bankers, agents and officials all have reasons to suppress the evidence. Billy must protect the negotiations while exposing how neutrality, commerce and personal profit have allowed the products of persecution to move safely across borders.
