Colours Aloft!
First published 1986
In 1803, the Peace of Amiens collapses and Vice-Admiral Sir Richard Bolitho raises his flag aboard Argonaute, a captured French flagship. He is ordered to assemble an inexperienced squadron and determine the intentions of a French fleet preparing for renewed war.
The campaign becomes a personal contest with the French admiral who once commanded Argonaute. Bolitho must control officers uncertain of their new ship, interpret incomplete intelligence and bring his squadron to a final encounter in which neither commander intends to offer quarter.
