Enemy of God

With the British kingdoms temporarily united, Arthur prepares to resist the Saxons while trying to preserve peace among rulers who distrust him. Derfel is sent on military and diplomatic missions, and Merlin leads him west in search of the Cauldron, one of the lost Treasures of Britain. The expedition deepens the conflict between Merlin’s pagan cause and the growing Christian church. At the same time, Lancelot seeks power, Guinevere pursues her own ambitions and Mordred’s future remains uncertain. As alliances fracture and betrayal reaches Arthur’s household, Derfel must help defend both the kingdom and the man he has sworn to serve.
