Azincourt

Nicholas Hook, an English archer fleeing a feud at home, joins Henry V’s invasion of France in 1415. After witnessing the failure of the siege of Soissons and the brutality of campaigning, he marches with an army weakened by disease and pursued by a much larger French force.

The story culminates at Agincourt, where English archers and dismounted men-at-arms fight in mud against repeated French attacks. Hook’s personal loyalties and religious doubts unfold within the siege of Harfleur, the march across northern France and the battle that established Henry V’s military reputation.
