The Warlord Chronicles

The Warlord Chronicles are narrated by Derfel Cadarn, an ageing monk recalling his years as one of Arthur’s warriors in post-Roman Britain. After Uther’s death, Arthur returns to protect the child king Mordred and tries to unite rival British kingdoms against Saxon invasion. Derfel follows him through civil war, political marriages, broken alliances and the conflict among Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin and the competing Christian and pagan factions.

Merlin’s search for the lost Treasures of Britain runs alongside Arthur’s military struggle. The trilogy moves through Arthur’s rise and the Battle of Mount Badon to the final disaster at Camlann, where rebellion and failed loyalties destroy the order Arthur tried to create.
