Patrol Easy continues across Leyte through rice fields, roads and jungle positions still held by Japanese troops. Deacon Cole learns that Allied prisoners are confined in a remote camp commanded by an officer willing to kill captives rather than allow them to be liberated.

The patrol must reach the camp before the commandant carries out that threat. Deke uses his rifle to remove guards and protect the assault, but the rescue cannot succeed without moving weakened prisoners through hostile territory. The mission becomes a contest between speed, secrecy and the commandant’s determination to leave no witnesses.
