In AD 66, Saulos Herodian recovers among the desert tribes while planning to provoke the destruction of Jerusalem and the collapse of Roman Judaea. Sebastos Pantera follows him east, where the threatened King Agrippa and a politically divided court sit at the centre of a province already close to rebellion.
Pantera must work with unfamiliar allies, penetrate a fortified stronghold and prevent private vengeance from becoming a regional war. Religious expectation, Roman authority and Herodian politics converge as Saulos manipulates grievances that will help ignite the First Jewish–Roman War.
