Book
Vindolanda
First published 2017
Northern Britannia, AD 98. Flavius Ferox, a Briton serving Rome as a centurion, is posted to Vindolanda, a fort near the edge of the province. Rome has not yet built Hadrian’s Wall, and the frontier depends on patrols, diplomacy and uneasy alliances.
Local rebellion, druidic resistance and rival Roman ambitions converge around the fort. Ferox must keep peace among tribes, soldiers and officials while his own divided identity makes him valuable to Rome but suspect to almost everyone.
