Adam Lofthouse is a British historical novelist based in Kent. His interest in the ancient world was strengthened by reading modern Roman epics, after which he spent years studying the empire, its enemies and the daily realities of military service before completing his first novel. That combination of sustained private research and enthusiasm for action-led storytelling shaped a career focused chiefly on Rome’s contested frontiers and periods of political instability.

His debut, The Centurion’s Son, introduced a style built around soldiers, personal rivalries and the difficult choices created by imperial expansion. Later novels include Path of Nemesis, Enemy of the Empire, Shadow of Rome and Enemies of Rome, while Raven turns to the rise of the Gothic leader Alaric during the weakening of Roman power in the West.
