Tunisgrad

Tunisgrad restores the Tunisian campaign of 1942–43 to the centre of the Allied war against the Axis. It begins with Operation Torch, the Anglo-American landings in French North Africa, and the German decision to rush troops and aircraft into Tunisia. Early Allied attempts to reach Tunis failed, and inexperienced American formations suffered severe defeats when Erwin Rommel counter-attacked through the central mountain passes.

David follows the convergence of the British First and Eighth Armies, the growth of Allied air and logistical superiority and the final collapse of Axis resistance in May 1943. More than a quarter of a million German and Italian troops surrendered. The campaign became the first sustained test of Anglo-American coalition warfare, destroyed Axis power in North Africa and helped create the operational methods later used in Sicily, Italy and north-west Europe.
