The Godless Man

Alexander’s army advances through Asia Minor after its first victories, but murder follows the Macedonian court. A killer associated with the figure of the Persian Centaur appears to know the army’s movements and the secrets of men close to the king. Telamon must investigate while treating the wounded and judging the rivalries among commanders, local allies and Persian agents.

The mystery develops against the rapid collapse of Persian positions and the pressure to keep the campaign moving. Religious signs, political loyalties and private revenge complicate the evidence, and Alexander’s confidence makes it dangerous to question those he favours. Telamon must determine whether the threat comes from a foreign spy, a Macedonian conspirator or an enemy created by the army itself.
