Templar Fury
First published 2020
After the defeat at Hattin and the loss of Jerusalem, Crusader forces besiege Acre in an attempt to regain a secure port. Saladin surrounds the besiegers, creating a prolonged struggle in which disease and shortage kill alongside combat.
The Templars fight to rebuild an order devastated at Hattin while armies from Europe arrive under rival leaders. Richard I's intervention changes the balance, but victory at Acre does not settle the future of Jerusalem.
Acre becomes a contest of endurance involving two armies, a fortified city and the sea routes that keep the crusaders supplied. Disease and divided leadership can be as dangerous as Saladin’s attacks, while every reinforcement changes the political balance within the Christian camp. The Brotherhood’s actions therefore matter inside a siege where military success depends on maintaining cooperation among allies who do not share the same priorities.
