Harvest of War

In 1916 the remnants of the Serbian army regroup at Salonika while Leonora works with the Red Cross and continues her secret relationship with Colonel Sasha Malkovic. Pregnancy and battle force her to leave their child with surrogate parents before illness carries her back to England. When Sasha is reported missing, she returns to the Balkans with the advancing Serbs, determined to recover both the man and daughter war has taken from her.

In France, Tom and Ralph endure the Somme and the consequences of a love that cannot be acknowledged within the army or their families. Victoria faces her own losses while the women’s wartime service continues to be treated as secondary to male combat.
