Expulsion
The Viking world, tenth century. After Norse power is driven from Dublin, Óttar and Ragnall are caught in the resulting diaspora. Their fortunes carry them through the trading and military networks of Europe and onward towards the eastern routes used by Scandinavian adventurers seeking wealth, service and political backing.
Neither man abandons the ambition of returning north to claim influence in Jorvik and Dublin. Their partnership is tested by rival loyalties, dangerous patrons and the unstable succession politics of the Norse kingdoms, where trade, raiding and dynastic marriage can create opportunity but death remains the usual consequence of a failed claim.
