Saint Cuthbert Trilogy

The Saint Cuthbert Trilogy follows three generations of Northumbrians whose lives become entwined with the saint, his community and the preservation of his legacy. Beginning on seventh-century Lindisfarne, the sequence moves through the Danish settlement of Northumbria and into the Anglo-Norman world that created a permanent shrine for Cuthbert at Durham.

Rather than following a single warrior dynasty, the trilogy centres on skilled men—a leatherworker, a royal horse-thegn and a master mason—whose crafts place them inside major religious and political changes. Their stories connect warfare, conversion, literacy, cultural accommodation and cathedral building across more than four centuries of northern English history.
