Electra

Electra was a daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra in Greek myth and tragedy. She supports or urges the revenge taken by her brother Orestes for their father’s murder, linking the aftermath of the Trojan War to the continuing curse of the House of Atreus.

In Euripides’s Electra and Other Plays, Electra revisits the murder of Agamemnon and the revenge of Orestes and Electra, while the other plays in the volume place damaged families and captive women in the aftermath of war. In Susan C Wilson’s Clytemnestra’s Bind, Survival requires her to understand Agamemnon’s ambition while building a life around the children born from the marriage: Iphigenia, Electra and Orestes.
