Autumn 1945. A Japanese submarine surfaces off the east coast of England, unloads a concealed cargo and then destroys itself. Soon afterwards, the military seals a nearby village where residents are dying from an unidentified illness.
Tom Wilde is recalled from Cambridge when evidence suggests a surviving Nazi network has combined its plans with research connected to Japan’s Unit 731. A Gestapo death list and a sequence of assassinations point toward British collaborators, forcing Wilde to investigate how fascist loyalties have survived the defeat of Germany.
