Divided Loyalties
First published 2019
England and France, 1570. Jack and Amy Cole have become useful to Francis Walsingham’s intelligence network, but their assignments pull them in opposite directions. Jack is sent to York to penetrate a Catholic brotherhood, while Amy enters the French court of Catherine de’ Medici and discovers that political and religious loyalties are being traded across borders.
The novel is set in the year Pope Pius V excommunicated Elizabeth I, a decision that intensified English fears of Catholic conspiracy and foreign intervention. Walsingham and Catherine de’ Medici appear under their historical identities, while the Diamond League, the Cole marriage and the central plots are fictional. The book is the second Jack and Amy Cole mystery.
