Huy and Ishat live comfortably on the estate awarded after his prediction of an Egyptian victory, but Huy’s reputation as a healer and seer has made privacy impossible. He remains uneasy about the purpose of his abilities and about the king who continues to observe him without openly calling on his services.

A royal demand eventually forces Huy to choose between obedience and the warning he believes the gods have given him.
