Helier L’Eree Trilogy

Written originally as Caroline Gray, the Helier L’Eree trilogy combines seventeenth-century warfare with witchcraft and gothic adventure. Helier’s mother is executed as a witch on Guernsey, and his attempt at revenge leads to service under Cardinal Richelieu and an assassination mission during the Thirty Years’ War.

The sequels carry the swordsman into the English Civil War and Charles II’s Scottish campaign of 1650. Royal missions repeatedly reopen the supernatural threat surrounding the Witch of Hohengraffen, so Helier’s public reputation as a soldier and his private struggle against an inherited curse develop together.
