Iberian War
526–532 CE
The conflict grew from disputes over Caucasian kingdoms and frontier fortifications. Roman and Persian forces fought across Armenia and Mesopotamia.
Belisarius won a major defensive victory at Dara in AD 530 but was defeated at Callinicum the following year. The war ended with the so-called Eternal Peace of 532.
Count Belisarius presents these campaigns as the foundation of the general's reputation and as an early test of his relationship with Justinian's court.
