Blood Oath
Denmark, 982. Vagn arrives at the fortress of Jomsburg seeking his grandfather, a place among the Jomsvikings and the means to fulfil a blood oath of vengeance. Once intended for lordship, he must instead endure the brotherhood's brutal trials and prove himself among mercenary warriors who live by discipline, reputation and the sword. His pursuit of revenge unfolds against the changing political and religious world of late Viking-age Scandinavia.
Jomsburg offers belonging through discipline rather than birth. Vagn’s claim to noble status matters less than whether he can survive tests designed to erase weakness and bind warriors to one another. His oath of vengeance therefore competes with a new collective loyalty, while the spread of Christianity adds another source of division to already unstable Scandinavian politics.
