Christianisation of Scandinavia unfolded gradually between the tenth and eleventh centuries through kings, missionaries, trade, violence and political advantage. Norse pagan beliefs did not disappear overnight, and local practice often changed unevenly. Conversion was tied to royal power and integration with Christian Europe.
