Valkyrie Rising
Norway, 878. Although Harald Fairhair's position has strengthened, one final struggle threatens the settlement of his kingdom. Hundr, Einar and the crew of the Seaworm undertake a voyage across the Viking world to recover a spear believed to have been forged for Odin. Ragnhild, Hundr's sword-sister and a priestess of the old religion, must decide how far she will trust prophecy as enemies close around the expedition.
The sacred spear gives the expedition a religious purpose that cannot be separated from politics. Harald’s consolidation threatens older patterns of local rule, while Ragnhild interprets events through beliefs that rulers may exploit but cannot fully control. Hundr and Einar must decide how far they will follow prophecy when the practical demands of ship, crew and survival point in other directions.
