Forests of Death

After surviving the Armenian mission, Marcus Corvo and the Legion of the Damned expect the freedom and pardons they were promised. Instead, they learn that their patron, Legate Crispus, has been exiled to Germania because Nero regards his military reputation with suspicion. Corvo leads the survivors north, hoping Crispus can still secure the rewards owed to them.

On the Rhine frontier they find Roman units under pressure and local peoples preparing for war. With no secure status and no powerful protector, the Damned are drawn into fighting in the forests of Germania, where unfamiliar terrain, ambush and imperial politics threaten to destroy the cohesion they earned in Armenia.
