Her Royal Spyness

The Her Royal Spyness mysteries follow Lady Georgiana Rannoch, a penniless minor royal trying to support herself in 1930s Britain. Her distant place in the succession repeatedly makes her useful to the royal family, who send her to watch unsuitable guests, prevent scandals and carry out discreet assignments. These apparently social duties regularly place Georgie near a murder, forcing her to investigate while protecting her family name and concealing what the palace wants kept private.

The sequence moves from Depression-era London and Scottish estates to the French Riviera, Hollywood, Italy, Kenya and royal residences. As Georgie’s relationship with Darcy O’Mara develops into marriage and parenthood, the cases become entangled with the Prince of Wales, Wallis Simpson, the abdication crisis and the growth of fascism in Europe.
