Kira Yoshinaka

1641–1703

Kira Yoshinaka was a high-ranking Edo court official attacked by Asano Naganori in 1701. After Asano was ordered to die, former retainers of Akō blamed Kira for their lord’s downfall and killed him in the revenge raid later remembered as the forty-seven rōnin incident.
