Dwight D. Eisenhower

1890–1969

Dwight D. Eisenhower was an American army officer who served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during the Second World War. He coordinated the multinational command responsible for the North African landings, the invasion of Sicily and the Normandy campaign before later serving as the thirty-fourth president of the United States.

In James R. Benn’s Billy Boyle, Eisenhower brings the young Boston detective onto his staff and assigns him a politically sensitive investigation involving the Norwegian government in exile. He also directs Billy’s missions in Evil for Evil and Rag and Bone, placing the fictional cases within the pressures of Allied high command.
