Fall of the Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall fell in November 1989 after weeks of protest, political confusion and mounting pressure across Eastern Europe. East and West Berliners crossed a barrier that had divided the city since 1961. The event quickly became the central symbol of the Cold War’s end.
